1. Basic Training

All english bulldogs should have basic training at some point in their lives - the earlier the better. Training for bark control must involve positive reinforcement (rewarding the english bulldog for doing the right thing). puppies bulldogs should never be punished for displaying any type of behavior.

2. Anti-Bark Collars and Devices

There are three main types of collars and devices for bark control. These are:
- ultrasonic
- shock
- citronella spray

I absolutely do not recommend or agree with using shock collars on puppies bulldogs. It is a cruel and painful punishment method. Unfortunately these collars are still sold despite feedback from many customers of pain and injury being caused to english bulldogs.

Ultrasonic collars and devices emit a high pitched sound, again it is a form of punishment so is not recommended.

The safest and most humane collar to use is the citronella spray collar.

3. Daily Exercise

Just like people, english bulldog's become more relaxed and happy when they exercise. If your english bulldog id stuck inside or in a small yard all day, taking him out for at least 30 minutes per day to run around and play is ideal and can actually cure the barking problem completely.

To stop excessive barking in your english bulldog make sure you give him attention, exercise, good food and health checks as well as a stable, safe and caring environment to live in. If all those basics are in place and your english bulldog is still barking inappropriately then it is time to look into some more extensive training methods.
